My Approach

I embrace a holistic and non-pathologizing approach to counseling, rooted in the understanding that every behavior serves a protective function and addresses a legitimate need, even if it may not be ideal. With Internal Family Systems (IFS), I guide clients in exploring their internal systems of parts, understanding that each part has emerged as a response to past trauma or societal pressures. By fostering curiosity and compassion toward these parts, clients can develop a deeper understanding of their coping mechanisms and begin to heal from within.

Incorporating sensorimotor psychotherapy into my therapeutic approach honors the mind-body connection and recognizes the ways in which trauma is stored in the body. Through gentle somatic techniques and mindfulness practices, clients learn to listen to their body's wisdom, releasing stored tension and trauma while cultivating a sense of safety and grounding. This approach acknowledges that the body's responses, such as dissociation or hyperarousal, are adaptive survival strategies that have served to protect the individual, even in the face of adversity.

Furthermore, I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and neural integration techniques to help clients reprocess traumatic memories and experiences through a non-pathologizing lens. By viewing distressing symptoms as adaptive responses to past trauma, rather than indicators of pathology, clients are empowered to approach their healing journey with self-compassion and curiosity. Through this reprocessing, clients can safely access and process traumatic memories, transforming maladaptive beliefs and behaviors into sources of strength and resilience on their path toward healing and self-discovery.
